Canadian musician François Jean, former drummer for Quebec band Les BB, has died. He was 60.
The news came Monday in a Facebook post from his ex-wife, singer Marie Carmen, who said she was heartbroken.
A cause of death was not immediately disclosed.
Jean, with Patrick Bourgeois and Alain Lapointe, formed Les BB in the late '80s and enjoyed huge success in Quebec with their self-titled debut album and follow-up Snob. They were twice named Group of the Year at the Félix Awards.
The members of Les BB went their separate ways following the release of their third album but reunited for albums in 2004 and 2011. A dispute between Jean and Bourgeois led to his dismissal in 2015.
“He told us lies. Then he kicked me out," Jean told the Journal de Montreal at the time. "It's a lack of respect for me, the fans and what we've created together."
He sued Bourgeois in 2015 for $30,000 in revenues from shows he did dating back to January 2012. The case was settled.
Bourgeois died in 2017 after a battle with cancer. He was 54.
Jean is survived by wife Mélissa.
