Musician Lindsay Buckingham, who was kicked out of Fleetwood Mac last year, suffered damage to his vocal cords after having emergency open heart surgery last week.
“While it is unclear if this damage is permanent, we are hopeful it is not,” his wife Kristen wrote in a message shared on social media.
Buckingham, 69, lost his father at 56 and his brother at 46 to heart disease. He is recovering at home and “each day he is stronger than the last.”
All scheduled shows have been postponed.
“He looks forward to recovery and putting this behind him,” Kristen wrote.
The guitarist, who wrote or co-wrote many of Fleetwood Mac’s biggest hits, was fired in January 2018. Last December, he reached a settlement with the band after filing a lawsuit.
