Turns out the guy from Orgy was right.
According to Billboard, members of Linkin Park are considering embarking on a 2025 and recruiting a female vocalist to take over vocal duties from late frontman Chester Bennington following his 2017 death.
Sources say that three of the five remaining members - Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson and Dave Farrell - are working with booking agency WME to look at potential dates next year, including festivals.
While they haven't yet decided on a vocalist, this does align with what Orgy singer Jay Gordon said in his appearance on the Wired In The Empire podcast. "They’ve been around a long time and they’re still going for it," he told host Mike Z. "It’s going to be tough without Chester [Bennington], but we’ll see. I hear they got a girl singer now. That’s what I heard.”
Gordon later walked back the comments, saying in a Facebook post, “With regards to this linkin park singer thing. I know nothing about any of that.”
Evanescence singer Amy Lee was recently in the news as she was rumoured to be the female vocalist in question thought to be joining Linkin Park. However, during an interview with iHeartRadio Canada's Jesse and JD, she quickly denied any involvement.
"That is an incredible compliment," she said. "I have not heard that. No, I have not been contacted [by Linkin Park] or anything like that. But [I'm a] huge fan feel like our worlds, our fanbases are a lot of the same people."
“But that’s awesome,” she added. “They should ask me about that. I don’t have a ton of free time, but I might do it part-time.”
In promoting the band's new singles collection, Papercuts, Mike Shinoda explained to Revolver that when there is any news about the band to announce fans will hear it directly from them.
"Rumours always go around. People always ask what's next for the band, and the best answer I can ever give anybody is when there's something to tell you, we will tell you," he said. "When there's an announcement to be made, it will be on LinkinPark.com. If you're hearing it from somebody else, you can trust that information as much as you want to trust it. [But] I love the guys, I still see them pretty regularly, and we have fun making stuff together. That's why Papercuts exists."
