Canadian singer Alessia Cara celebrated her 22nd birthday on Wednesday by gifting fans with a new song, “A Little More.”
“I made a song in my basement and thought I’d release it … as a small gift for my birthday,” Cara tweeted this week, adding that she wrote and produced the track, which she described as “another lil piece of my heart.”
The midnight release came with a video, which features clips from Cara’s own home videos.
the world my music sits in tends to put feeling second to whatever else sometimes and it makes me feel really nice to know that you truly care about my words and the chords they strike for you. so happy you’re enjoying the new stuff. thank you x

“A Little More” follows “Growing Pains” and will likely be on Cara’s forthcoming album The Pains of Growing – a follow-up to her 2015 debut Know-it-all, which spawned hits like “Scars to Your Beautiful.”
She also collaborated with Zedd on the smash hit “Stay” and with Logic and Khalid on “1-800-273-8255.”
Earlier this year, Cara won a Grammy for Best New Artist.
