Keith Urban on Thursday released “God Whispered Your Name,” his first new song of 2020.
“I can see the sunshine / For the first time in a while,” the country star sings. “Girl, it's like I've been baptized / by the warmth of your smile / Well, call it fate or faith or call it crazy either way / It’s amazin', amazin' grace.”
The track, from Urban’s forthcoming new album, was co-written by Chris August, Shy Carter, James Slater and Micah Carter. Benmont Tench of the Heartbreakers plays organ on the song, which Urban co-produced with Dan McCarroll.
Urban also announced Thursday that he will be hosting the 2020 Academy of Country Music Awards on April 5.
“As if having a new song out today wasn’t enough, I also get to host the ACMs in April,” he said, in a release. “I’ll tell you — this year already feels like the most creative and energized year of my life… and there’s so much more to come. Incredibly grateful — and ready to roll!”
