LeAnn Rimes is marking the 60th anniversary of “Blue” by sharing a reimagined version of the song she first recorded when she was just 11 years old.
The live version, recorded during her 2017 Remnants Tour, gets a jazz twist.
Rimes covered the Bill Mack song in 1996 as the title track of her debut album and it earned her a Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance – as well as a Grammy for Mack for Best Country Song.
On Monday night, Rimes made a surprise appearance on the American Idol finale as 16-year-old Layla Spring and her 7-year-old sister Dyxie performed “Blue.”
In a statement, Rimes said the girls had no idea they would get to share the stage. “The two of them bring so much joy to the world, and I hope I was able to give them a little of it back,” she said.
