Lil Nas X doesn’t intend to be the next PSY.
Hoping to put to rest the “one-hit wonder” label, the “Old Time Road” rapper on Thursday shared a single titled “Panini” ahead of Friday’s release of his debut EP, 7.
The track – which is about the rabbit/cat hybrid chef in the Chowder animated series, not a warm Italian sandwich – counts the late Kurt Cobain among its songwriters because it interpolates Nirvana’s 1991 track “In Bloom.”
The song clocks in at less than two minutes.
Lil Nas X tweeted that he was trying to get celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay "on this panini remix." Ramsay took notice, replying on Twitter: "Tell me more."
The 20-year-old is riding high on the success of “Old Town Road,” which he released last year. It went viral, sparked a Billy Ray Cyrus remix, broke streaming records, and has spent 11 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
