Logic, who announced last week his retirement from the music business following the July 24th release of his album No Pressure, is becoming a pro gamer.
The Verge reported Monday that the 30-year-old has signed an exclusive seven-figure deal with Twitch. It is the Amazon-owned video live streaming service’s first such relationship with a music artist.
“I’m not this rapper guy, man,” he told the website. “I’m just a nerd. I love video games.
“I’m blessed enough to have millions of fans and followers. So it is a great partnership. I’m going to bring new eyes to their service, they’re going to bring new money to my bank account, and — I’m just kidding.”
Logic, whose real name is Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, said he has been active on Twitch for at least four years and is looking forward to “helping people after they’ve had a day of protesting or political debates, unwind and laugh and smile.”
His first Twitch stream will be to premiere No Pressure on Tuesday at 8 pm ET.
On Instagram last Thursday, Logic told fans: “Officially announcing my retirement with the release of No Pressure. It’s been a great decade. Now it’s time to be a great father.”
He told The Verge he is stepping away from music “because it came to a point where I felt forced, like I had to do certain things … I’m such a businessman, and I was pushing myself to the brink of insanity.”
Logic said he will still rap “on songs that probably won’t come out.”
He made his debut in 2010 with the mixtape Young, Broke & Infamous and released his debut album Under Pressure in 2014. His biggest hits were last year’s “Homicide” ft. Eminem and 2017’s “1-800-273-8255” ft. Alessia Cara and Khalid. Logic was nominated for two Grammys in 2018.
