Country singer Loretta Lynn is recovering from a fall in which she broke her hip.

The 85-year-old country music icon “is in good spirits and doing as well as can be expected with this type of injury,” according to a message on social media from her sister, singer Crystal Gayle.

Last year, Lynn suffered a stroke that forced her to cancel a string of concerts and postpone the release of her album Wouldn’t It Be Great. In a Facebook message at the time, she told fans that she “ain’t dead yet” and “can’t wait to see all of you on the road!”

She made an appearance at the Country Hall of Fame induction ceremony in October to honour Alan Jackson.

“My birthday wish is for everyone to send love and prayers to my sister,” wrote Gayle, who turns 67 on Tuesday.
