Madonna said Wednesday it was “indescribable” pain that forced her to cancel the last show on the North American leg of her Madame X tour.
The 61-year-old pop icon scrapped her Dec. 22 performance in Miami Beach – the last of seven shows there – only hours before it was set to begin.
“I was in tears from the pain of my injuries,” Madonna shared in a message on Instagram. “I want to say how deeply sorry I am to all my fans.”
She is scheduled to launch the European leg of the tour on Jan. 12.
“I spent the last two days with doctors,” she wrote. “Scans, ultra sounds, Xrays. Poking and probing and more tears.
“They have made it very clear to me that if l’am to continue my tour— I must rest for as long as possible so that I don’t inflict further and Irreversible damage to my body.”
Madonna added: "I have never let an injury stop me from performing but this time i have to accept that there is no shame in being human and having to press the pause.”
In fact, the pop icon cancelled a show in Brooklyn and three in Boston due to her knee injury.
