The Strumbellas have pulled the plug on their Canadian tour.
According to a statement shared via Twitter, a band member has been hospitalized to undergo “treatment for an illness.” No further details were provided.
The 14-city tour was scheduled to kick off Jan. 9 in Victoria and run until Feb. 15 in Sherbrooke, QC.
“We’ve been looking forward to this tour across Canada for a long time,” said singer-guitarist David Ritter, in the tweet. “We know people go to a lot of effort to come see us, and we don’t take that for granted.
“We never want to disappoint fans, especially fans in our home country that have supported us for so many years.”
Ritter said The Strumbellas are “working on getting back to full strength and focused on getting on the road.”
Fans are being encouraged to hold on to their tickets, which will be honoured for rescheduled dates.
Neon Dreams was scheduled to open most of the shows on The Strumbellas tour. The Halifax duo was also set to open for Shawn Hook’s fall 2018 tour, which Hook cancelled.
