Megan Thee Stallion said Wednesday she was suffering from gunshot wounds to the foot when police pulled over a vehicle she was in with Canadian rapper-singer Tory Lanez.
As reported on Tuesday, Lanez was arrested on a concealed weapon charge. Those same reports said Megan Thee Stallion had injuries to her feet, possibly from broken glass.
“The narrative that is being reported about Sunday morning’s events are inaccurate and I’d like to set the record straight,” she wrote in a message on social media. “On Sunday morning, I suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me.”
The rap star, whose real name is Megan Pete, did not name the alleged shooter or provide any further details about the incident.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said Wednesday that Stallion never told officers that she was the victim of a crime.
In her message, Stallion added: “Police officers drove me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets. I’m incredibly grateful to be alive and that I’m expected to make a full recovery, but it was important for me to clarify the details about this traumatic night.
“I’m currently focused on my recovery, so I can return back to my life and back to making music as soon as possible.”
Police responded to calls about an altercation outside a house party in Hollywood at around 4:30 a.m. Witnesses said people were arguing in an SUV before someone fired shots in the air and the vehicle drove off.
Officers caught up to the SUV and conducted a search after noticing that Stallion, one of two female passengers, had cuts on her foot. It is not known who the second passenger was.
Lanez, 27, was taken into custody. He posted $35,000 U.S. bail and was released at 10:05 a.m., according to public records. He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 13.
Stallion, who was briefly detained at the scene, was not charged.
