A rep for Miley Cyrus confirmed this past weekend that the singer has split from actor Liam Hemsworth after less than a year of marriage.
“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time," the spokesperson for Cyrus told People, in a statement. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what's best while they both focus on themselves and careers.
“They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
According to the Daily Mail Australia, when asked about the separation, Hemsworth reportedly responded: “You don’t understand what it’s like. I don’t want to talk about it.”
Cyrus was photographed kissing Brody Jenner’s ex-wife Kaitlynn Carter on vacation in Italy, prompting Brandon Lee, the son of rocker Tommy Lee and Canada’s Pamela Anderson, to comment on Jenner’s Instagram. “Let’s round this scandal out and post a pic of us making out." Jenner replied: “Watch out! Pics of Liam and I holding hands on the beach coming soon.”
Cyrus replied to Jenner: “Go take a nap in your truck and cool off #HotGirlSummer.”
Over the weekend she shared photos on Instagram with captions like “New day. New adventure” and “Life’s a climb... but the view is great.” In one, she shared: “Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win … My dad always told me ‘Nature never hurries but it is always on time’.... it fills my heart with peace and hope KNOWING that is true. I was taught to respect the planet and its process and I am committed to doing the same with my own.”
Cyrus and Hemsworth tied the knot just before Christmas last year after a decade-long on-again, off-again relationship. The pair started dating when they co-starred in the 2010 film The Last Song and announced their engagement in 2012. They broke up after about a year but later rekindled their romance.
