The 15th edition of Montreal’s Osheaga Music & Arts Festival has been pushed to 2021, promoter evenko announced Tuesday.
"Given the current circumstances, it would not be responsible for the artists, the fans, the partners, and employees to hold the festival this year," reads a message to fans.
This is the first time in Osheaga’s history that the event has been cancelled. The festival is scheduled to return to Jean Drapeau Park from July 30 to Aug. 1, 2021.
Fans who choose to hold on to their passes are eligible for a $50 gift card to use at the festival site next summer but refunds are also available.
"This is an unusual situation that is unfortunately beyond our control," said evenko's Nick Farkas, "but as passionate music fans ourselves, we take great pride in curating the festival with the aim of bringing the best local, Canadian and international talent to the most beautiful festival site in the world, and we'll have some fantastic artists lined up for 2021."
This year's festival was set to be headlined by Lizzo, Kendrick Lamar and Foo Fighters. Other acts in the line-up this year included Vampire Weekend, Lewis Capaldi, Leon Bridges, French Montana, Bon Iver, Brockhampton, Tones and I and Charli XCX.
"The Osheaga team wishes everyone a safe and relaxing summer, with plenty of great music and fun at home," read the message from evenko. "Fans are encouraged to stay tuned and keep in touch! It will all be worth the wait – the power of music will bring us all together again!"
The announcement came only hours after evenko confirmed it was pulling the plug on the 7th edition of EDM festival ÎLESONIQ in August. It will return Aug. 6 and 7, 2021.
Osheaga is presented by Bell Alt TV, part of the same parent company as this website.
