Neil Young has scrapped his lawsuit against outgoing U.S. president Donald Trump over the use of his songs at a rally last summer.
The 75-year-old Ontario native sued the Trump campaign in August alleging copyright infringement and seeking $150,000 U.S. for each use of “Rockin’ in the Free World” and “Devil’s Sidewalk.”
In his lawsuit, Young said he “in good conscience cannot allow his music to be used as a 'theme song' for a divisive, un-American campaign of ignorance and hate.”
Lawyers for the singer filed papers on Monday to dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice – suggesting that a settlement was reached. Neither side has commented.
The Trump campaign faces another lawsuit from singer Eddy Grant over the use of his song “Electric Avenue” in a commercial.
