The cast and crew of Rock of Ages Hollywood came together virtually to show their support for their co-star, Nick Cordero.
Jonathan Quesenberry, Frankie Grande and others belted out Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” for a video that opens with the hashtag “#WakeUpNick.”
The 41-year-old Canadian singer-actor remains in a medically induced coma in Los Angeles after testing positive for COVID-19 earlier this month. Complications led to blood clotting in his right leg, which was amputated on April 18.
The cast also promoted a GoFundMe campaign created for Cordero, his wife Amanda Kloots and their 10-month-old son Elvis. It has surpassed its $450,000 U.S. goal.
Cordero, a Hamilton, Ont. native, dropped out of Toronto's Ryerson University to join rock-soul band LoveMethod. He starred in Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding in Toronto and worked in shows onboard cruise ships before finding work on the stages of New York City. Cordero starred in Rock of Ages on Broadway as well as Waitress and A Bronx Tale. He earned a Tony Award nomination in 2014 for playing Cheech in Bullets Over Broadway.
On Monday, Kloots said her husband remained on a ventilator and was battling a fever.
