Nicki Minaj seemingly confirmed Monday that she married boyfriend Kenneth Petty.
The rap superstar posted a video clip on Instagram showing “Mr.” and “Mrs.” mugs and caps emblazoned with “Bride” and “Groom.” She captioned it: “Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty 10•21•19.”
In August, Minaj vowed to tie the knot with Petty in the next 80 days.
“We filed for the marriage license and we still had to pick it up and I was traveling, by the time I came back, we had to renew it again,” Minaj said on her radio show. “From that time, you have 90 days to get married. That was about a week ago, so now I have about 80 days.”
The 36-year-old rap star said the couple will wait a bit longer to throw a wedding fit for a queen.
“I have to work on my album and I have a lot to focus on that I don’t want to do the big wedding now,” she explained. “We’ll do the big wedding later.”
It’s the first marriage for Minaj, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj. She previously had a 14-year relationship with rapper Safaree Samuels and dated Meek Mill for two years.
Minaj and Petty went public with their relationship last December and Minaj found herself defending it because Petty is a registered sex offender. (“He was 15, she was 16 … in a relationship,” she wrote on social media. “But go awf, Internet. … Y’all can’t run my life.”)
In September, Minaj sparked a fan frenzy when she tweeted that she was stepping away from music.
“I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now," the rap star wrote. “To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE.”
She later walked back the announcement. "I’m still right here," Minaj tweeted. "Still madly in love with you guys & you know that ... The tweet was abrupt & insensitive, I apologize babe."
