Nicki Minaj took to Instagram early Monday to share the news that she is expecting.
The 37-year-old rap superstar posted a photo showing her in a curly yellow wig, bikini and heels while cradling her baby bump. She captioned the image: “#Preggers.”
In a second image, Minaj dons a blue wig and knee-high white stockings. "I’m in love," she wrote. "Classic Nicki meets the now. #BABYMINAJ."
It will be the first baby for Minaj, who married Kenneth Petty, 42, in 2019. He recently registered as a sex offender in California due to an attempted rape conviction in 1995.
Last September, Minaj tweeted: "I’ve decided to retire & have my family." She later apologized for the retirement announcement, calling it "abrupt & insensitive."
In a 2014 interview with L’Uomo Vogue, Minaj said: “I do not want to work all my life and never experience the joys of a family. It is not time yet, but when I decide to … become a mother I would like to take a break and devote myself completely to my child.” A year earlier, she told Elle about wanting to be a mother. “I was praying every day, ‘You know what, Lord? I want to be a mom one day, and I want to start becoming the woman who I want to parent my child.'"
Rumours of a pregnancy have swirled since Minaj shared photos from the set of the video for "Trollz," her collaboration with 6ix9ine. She was last photographed in public during New York Fashion Week in February and her recent personal Instagram pics have shown her from the shoulders up.
