Shaggy this week admitted he ignored royal protocol during his performance with Sting at Queen Elizabeth’s birthday show last Saturday.
The reggae star said he was “a bit disruptive” when he went into the audience at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
“I was trying to high five, yo! But it was good, we had everyone up on their feet,” he recalled during an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan.
“It wasn't the normal protocol but you know, we got the party going... It was a good time.”

Sting said security officials briefed the performers before the show. “[They said] ‘Whatever you do, don't go into the audience,’ which is exactly what he did!,” said Sting. “He was heading towards the royal box! I thought, 'Please, no... That's my Queen!’”
Shaggy, who hails from Jamaica (also part of the Commonwealth), said he thinks the Queen was amused. “I did see she… gave me a wink.”
