Shawn Mendes revealed Monday that he is “fighting off a crazy flu.”
In his first tweets of the year, the 20-year-old singer blamed the illness for his social media absence.”I have been watching you though lol,” wrote Mendes.
He also said he is “dying to get back on tour and play this album for you guys!!!!!!!!!
Referring to his self-titled third album, Mendes said: “I cant believe I haven’t even played most of these songs live yet!”
Mendes ended an eventful 2018 by spending time at his family’s home in Pickering, Ont. (his performance on a New Year’s Eve TV special was pre-taped weeks in advance).
Mendes told iHeartRadio that he would spend the holidays “in a robe all day and never leave my house” – and he was looking forward to eating “so much food,” watching Gremlins, and “just hanging out with family.”
Mendes will kick off his world tour on March 7 in Amsterdam and will be on the road until the end of October.
In addition to a Sept. 6 show at Toronto’s Rogers Centre, he will play June 14 in Vancouver, June 16 in Edmonton, June 19 in Winnipeg and Aug. 21 in Montreal.
