The Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber collaboration “Monster” took a scary fall on the Billboard Hot 100 in its second week, plummeting 30 spots to No. 38.
The second single from Mendes’ fourth album Wonder was released on Nov. 20 and promoted on both singers’ social media (Bieber has 113.2 million Twitter followers and Mendes has 26 million).
“Monster” debuted at No. 8 on the Hot 100, which reflects U.S. sales, streams and radio airplay. According to Billboard, it was Mendes’ sixth Top 10 hit and Bieber’s 21st.
Another Bieber collaboration, “Holy” with Chance the Rapper is currently No. 7 on the Hot 100 after 11 weeks. Mendes’ “Wonder,” which debuted at No. 18, fell another 20 spots in its ninth week to No. 77.
On the UK songs chart, “Monster” dropped from a No. 9 debut to No. 26 but in the two singers’ native country, it dropped only two spots to No. 3 in its second week.
