Smashing Pumpkins want YOU to be their new guitarist.
In October, long-time Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder announced that he was leaving the band, and now Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin are looking to fill that role.
The band posted an ad on their socials encouraging all guitarists to apply for the job.
They write: “The Smashing Pumpkins are in search of an additional guitarist. The application process is open to anyone who might be interested. Applicants may submit a resume and related materials to: SPGuitar@redlightmanagement.com."
The turn around for finding a new axe player will likely be a quick one, seeing as the Pumpkins are set to hit the road with Green Day this summer, beginning on July 29. So if you know the tabs for "Cherub Rock," "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" and "Stand Inside Your Love," you might as well go for it.
For what it's worth, upon his departure Schroeder detailed how he got the gig in the first place on Instagram, writing, "It's easy to say now that when I joined The Smashing Pumpkins in 2007 I had no idea what I was getting into. The opportunity seemed to have come out of nowhere. I was at UCLA working on my doctorate in comparative literature when a close friend messaged me and said The Smashing Pumpkins were looking for a guitar player. Being a huge fan of the band, the audition was something I threw myself into. It was one of the best decisions I've made in my life."
It could be one of the best decisions you've made in your life too!
