Coincidence or catfight? Just as Katy Perry’s new album WITNESS hit streaming services, her pop nemesis Taylor Swift announced her back catalogue of music would be returning to iHeartRadio, Spotify and TIDAL in one fell swoop. At first, fans were skeptical – would Swift really do that on the eve of Perry’s release? But sure enough, at midnight June 8, Swift’s albums appeared on streaming services.
To boot, Swift discounted all of her albums on Apple Music.
In an Instagram post by Taylor Nation, the explanation for her return to streaming was because Swift had reached a new milestone. “In celebration of 1989 selling over 10 Million Albums Worldwide and the RIAA's 100 Million Song Certification announcement, Taylor wants to thank her fans by making her entire back catalog available to all streaming services tonight at midnight.”

Recently, Perry spoke to the NME, reviving the pop stars’ longstanding feud. “I wish that I could turn the other cheek every single time, but I’m also not a pushover, you know?” she said of the beef. “Especially when someone tries to assassinate my character with little girls [her fans]. That’s so messed up!”
Is this response from Camp Swift just coincidental, or all new levels of petty? Either way, the “Bad Blood” singer will surely enjoy a boost in the charts when it was really meant to be Perry’s day to shine.
