The people have spoken: James Blunt can officially keep his name.
Earlier this month the singer-songwriter gave his fans a chance to legally change his name to whatever they wanted if they sent the 20th anniversary reissue of his 2004 album, Back to Bedlam, to #1 on the UK Albums chart. Alas, it didn't happen.
Charli XCX's Brat And It’s Completely Different But Also Still Brat, a remixed edition of her recent album Brat, sold the most copies in the UK this past week. In fact, Back to Bedlam only managed to reach #7, so it wasn't even close.
Blunt had let the public decide what the new name would be, with the popular choice being "Blunty McBluntface," amongst others that were even less flattering.
He acknowledged his defeat in a social post, showing a video of him excitedly learning from his rep that he didn't reach number one by jumping up and down on a couch, before learning that the label wants to actually rebrand him as "Blunty McBluntface." Good stuff.
