Another Ontario music festival has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales.
Throwback Fest was scheduled to take place Aug. 24 in Kitchener, Ont. with Naughty By Nature, Biz Markie, Sisqo and Maestro Fresh Wes.
“We are learning August is a slow month for generating ticket sales,” Gabriel Mattacchione of Beyond Oz said, in a release. The company also produced Ever After, Slam Fest and Reggae Fest.
Those who bought tickets to Throwback Fest will receive refunds.
In early July, organizers of Hair in the Fair in Welland, Ont., announced they were pulling the plug “due to financial hardship and extremely low ticket sales” with just days to go. The line-up included bands like L.A. Guns, Ratt, Quiet Riot, Helix, Anvil, Sven Gali and Warrant.
A few days earlier, the Roxodus festival in Clearview Township, featuring headliners like Aerosmith and Nickleback, was suddenly scrapped. One of the promoters later blamed poor ticket sales and the company behind the festival filed for bankruptcy protection.
