Canadian rapper Tory Lanez apologized to Megan Thee Stallion just hours after she was taken to hospital with gunshots wounds to her foot, according to a report.
“I know u prolly never gone talk to me again, but I genuinely want u to know I'm sorry from the bottom of my heart,” Lanez wrote in a text message on July 12, TMZ reported early Wednesday.
Lanez reportedly added: “I was just too drunk.”
Last month, Megan Thee Stallion publicly accused Lanez of shooting her in the early morning hours of July 12 after the two attended a party in Los Angeles. Lanez was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
Stallion recalled she was in the SUV with a female friend, Lanez and his bodyguard. An argument broke out and Stallion, who was in the front seat and only five minutes from home, decided to get out.
She said Lanez, “from out the backseat of the car starts shooting me.”
Stallion explained that she didn’t initially tell police about the shooting because she feared how officers would react to an armed Black man in the vehicle.
“I tried to save [Lanez]. Even though he tried to shoot me, I tried to spare him. He not in jail because I didn’t tell the [police] what happened as soon as it happened and I should have,” she said. “I’m smart. I didn’t have to spare [Lanez] … but I did. But I’m done.”
Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, has not commented on Stallion’s allegation and has not publicly addressed the incident.
In his text message to Stallion, according to TMZ, Lanez did not mention a shooting or a gun but said: “S**t should have never happened and I can't change what did. I just feel horrible … ‘Cuz I genuinely just got too drunk.”
