Trapt has got itself into a war of words over the size of the crowd at the rock band's concert this past weekend at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.
It all started when Consequence of Sound (CoS) tweeted a photo from Trapt’s concert on Sunday showing about 15 people standing in front of the stage. “Turns out even COVID-denying bikers want nothing to do with them,” read the tweet.
Trapt frontman Chris Taylor Brown replied that the “nerds” at CoS “find the moment with least amount of people front of stage, like the first song of an opening set, to prove no one showed up to this. Am I trump or something? These metal/metal core music sites are formerly bullied adult kids trying to turn the tables.”
Brown tweeted a photo of his own, taken from off-stage, showing a small crowd.
“Dude. There’s less than 100 people here, and only about half of ‘em are even paying attention,” one person tweeted in response. “Your s**t’s so weak they even havin’ convos on their cell phones.”
When another person noted how few people were actually in the photo, Brown fired back: “What? Are you blind? … Wow, you must have 7 brain cells.” He called someone else “dumb.”

Metal Injection shared the same photo as CoS and noted: “Nobody Showed Up To See Them.”
Brown, tweeting his pic again, clapped back: “Within minutes of the first note of that song it was like this… you are full of bullied little boys who grew up and now want to turn the tables.”
This prompted someone to ask Brown if he was “saying people were too busy to show up on time for your set? If they wanted to see you, they’d be there lol.”
Brown responded: “No one knew when the set would start. As soon as they heard the first song they came out to the front. Was a great show.” (In fact, Trapt’s set time was advertised as 7:05 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.)
Trapt, which had a hit with 2002's "Headstrong," has released eight studio albums since 1999. Its latest, Shadow Work, reportedly sold only 600 copies in its first week (Brown claimed the figure is closer to 4,000). On May 8, a tweet from Trapt boasted that the new album "is the best piece of music trapt has put out and probably one of the top 5 albums that will ever exist for all of time."
The band is next scheduled to perform on Sept. 11 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
