Canada’s Alessia Cara recently joined a group of Detroit music students on stage for a performance of her hit “Here.”
The singer shared lead vocals with Jamiliah Minter, backed by a four-piece band and a pair of backing singers.
Cara had just done a Q&A at the Detroit Institute of Music Education (DIME), which offers degree programs in partnership with MSU Denver.
“She was excited to find out that DIME students had learned some of her songs,” reads a description of a video shared on YouTube, “so she jumped on stage to perform her breakout hit … with them.”
Cara’s sophomore album The Pains of Growing is due out Nov. 30. She is among the performers at this year's iHeartRadio Canada Jingle Ball in Toronto on Dec. 2.
