After a week of teasing, Billie Eilish on Thursday shared "my future," a song she wrote and recorded during the COVID-19 quarantine.
The poignant song comes with an animated video directed by Andrew Onorato.
"I'm in love with my future / Can't wait to meet her," Eilish sings. "And I'm in love / But not with anybody else / Just wanna get to know myself."
It is the first new track from the 18-year-old since February's "No TIme To Die," the theme to the since-delayed new Bond film of the same name. The song also comes on the 23rd birthday of Eilish's brother and collaborator, Finneas O'Connell.
In an email blast to fans, Eilish explained: "we wrote this at the very beginning of quarantine. it’s a song that’s really really personal and special to me. when we wrote this song, it was exactly where my head was at – hopeful, excited and a craaaazy amount of self-reflection and self-growth. but recently it has also taken on a lot of new meaning in the context of what’s happening in the world now. i hope you can all find meaning in it for yourselves."
Eilish released her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, which went on to win three Grammys and a Juno, in March 2019.
