Dallas Smith teased fans last week by releasing a 40-second clip, but the Juno Award-winning country star has finally shared the full cinematic music video for “Side Effects”.
Taking inspiration from the song’s lyrics, director Stefan Berrill created a high-octane visual, which tells the story of a man who gets involved with what appears to be a gang and the woman who wants to help free him from that life.
“Yea that’s the thing about addicted/ You swear you’re gonna kick it/ Till the kiss pulls you back in the flame,” the Langley, BC native sings.
When he confronts the gang to sever ties, things quickly take a dark turn and ends tragically when the blonde woman gets involved.
“Side Effects” is the third single off of Smith’s album of the same name, which peaked at no. 7 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart. His first single from Side Effects, “Autograph”, hit the no. 1 spot.
Smith will play several dates in Canada this July, with concerts slated for Yellowknife, London, and Calgary later this summer. Watch the video for “Side Effects” below:
