Justin Bieber was back in the passenger seat of James Corden’s SUV for a Carpool Karaoke segment that aired on Tuesday’s episode of The Late Late Show.
"A lot has happened. Married man. Got a moustache now," said the 25-year-old Canadian pop star (who recently got rid of the moustache).
The pair worked out choreography for "Yummy" after doing a bit of "I Don't Care," Bieber's collaboration with Ed Sheeran. Corden then asked the singer why he challenged Tom Cruise to a fight last year.
"I don't know. I was just being stupid, to be honest," Bieber explained. "That would have been funny." He opined that Cruise is not like the characters he plays and that being in "phenomenal shape doesn't mean you're a good fighter."
After a quick arm-wrestle, Corden and Bieber sang his 2015 hit "Love Yourself" and then talked about marriage.
"Being married is the best thing that's ever happened to me. She's extraordinary," said Bieber, who admitted singing to the bride at their wedding. He shared that he and Hailey Baldwin stay in a lot to binge-watch shows like House and Friends. (That revelation prompted the duo to do a contemporary version of Phoebe's classic "Smelly Cat.")
Next on the playlist was "Intentions" from Bieber's new album Changes and then a throwback to 2009's "One Less Lonely Girl."
It was the third time Bieber has done Carpool Karaoke but the first in over four years. He previously appeared in episodes that aired in May 2015 and November 2015. Currently promoting his new album Changes, Bieber is one of only four Canadian artists who have done Carpool Karaoke – Shawn Mendes and Michael Bublé appeared in 2018 and Céline Dion was featured in 2019.
Last month, Corden was accused of not actually driving the vehicle during Carpool Karaoke after video surfaced showing the SUV with Corden and Bieber being pulled by another vehicle.
Corden later explained it was one of only five times he didn’t drive. “Ninety-five percent of the time I really am endangering the lives of the world’s biggest pop stars,” the host said.
Bieber tweeted: “Wait… you weren’t driving the car? How could you James? I’m shocked.”
