Country superstar Keith Urban took a few minutes out of his New Year’s Eve celebrations to pay tribute to some of the music icons we lost in 2016.

“I want to take just a second to give my thanks to a few of the artists that we lost in 2016,” Urban said, “and that have left an incredible mark on music.

“I grew up with a lot of these artists.”

He then launched into a medley that included part of “Hallelujah” by Canada’s Leonard Cohen.

Urban’s medley included George Michael’s “Careless Whisper,” David Bowie’s “Heroes,” Merle Haggard’s “Mama Tried,” Prince’s “Purple Rain” and “Take It Easy” by Glenn Frey and The Eagles.

Urban’s wife Nicole Kidman even joined him on stage midway through the tribute to provide some back-up vocals and dance moves.

Urban headlined the Jack Daniel’s Music City Midnight Celebration in Nashville, where he lives.
