Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance Saturday night at the club where she got her start, Nashville’s Bluebird Café.
The pop superstar went back to her country roots with a performance of her hits “Shake It Off,” “Love Story” and the Little Big Town hit she wrote, “Better Man.” According to the Tennessean, the crowd gave Swift a standing ovation while she made her way to the stage.

Swift was welcomed to the stage after an invite from country songwriter Craig Wiseman, who was headlining the evening. Swift and Wiseman also shared shots of Fireball whiskey during her performance.
“I wanted to say a big thank you to the Bluebird Café,” Swift told the crowd. “Any songwriter in town would echo my sentiments and say that this is kind of the only place where this exists – this particular place where you get to come and hear the writer’s take on the songs they’ve put out into the world.”
The Bluebird Café was shooting a 35th anniversary documentary to celebrate its success, which is reportedly also the same venue where Swift was offered a record deal as a teenager by Big Machine’s Scott Borchetta after seeing her perform.
Swift kicks off her reputation tour in May, with dates scheduled for Toronto's Rogers Centre on Aug. 3 and 4.
