Classic rock band Toto showed their appreciation for Weezer on Monday night by debuting a cover of the latter’s 2001 track “Hash Pipe.”
“We figured since we were smoking hash since before they were born that was the one we should do,” Toto’s Steve Lukather said on stage during a concert in Vancouver.
“This is our tribute to Weezer. God bless them, thank them, and see what you think of our version of their song.”
The tribute was in response to Weezer recording Toto’s 1982 hit “Africa” in May following a request by a young fan.
Toto is back in Canada on Aug. 23 for a show at Caesars Windsor in Ontario.
