A lyric video for the late Leonard Cohen’s “Traveling Light” features previously unseen footage of the Canadian icon.
The video was created by Belgium artist Sammy Slabbinck, who worked on Cohen's final album You Want It Darker.
"With the excellent guidance of [Cohen's son Adam] I had the honour of making this video," Slabbinck explained on Instagram, "a combination of archival & previously unseen footage, for one of Leonard Cohen’s last masterpieces."
At the beginning of the video, Cohen is seen sitting on a porch, cigarette in hand. "I feel a lot stronger, but I'm actually a lot weaker," he says.
"I wake up in my bed and I feel like, 'That's how I used to feel.' Not exactly but, you know. And then I swing my legs off the bed and I try to stand up!”
The song is an ode to getting older. Cohen died last November at 82.
Cohen has several Juno Award nominations this year, including Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and Album of the Year.
