Willie Nelson walked off the stage Saturday night at a concert in Charlotte, North Carolina without singing a single note.
The 85-year-old country music icon first took the stage an hour earlier but abruptly walked off. When he finally returned, he lasted only a few minute before taking off his guitar, tossing his hat into the crowd, and leaving the stage.
“He came out once, walked off stage, came back out, threw his hat into crowd, walked off AGAIN. Boos,” one fan tweeted.
Promoter Live Nation tweeted: “Due to illness, Willie Nelson was unable to play tonight at the Outlaw Music Festival at PNC Music Pavilion Charlotte. Fans are asked to please hold on to their tickets until the new date is announced.”
Nelson’s publicist said the singer was suffering from a stomach bug.
The country star has been dealing with a number of health issues in recent years and has had to cut short or cancel shows on a number of occasions. In March 2017, his publicist shot down a report by Radar Online that claimed Nelson was “deathly ill.”
