A$AP Rocky Found Guilty Of Assault In Sweden

A$AP Rocky has been found guilty of assaulting a young man who harassed him on a Stockholm street in late June.

The rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was given a suspended sentence and ordered to pay damages to the victim, 19-year-old Mustafa Jafari.

Bladimir Corniel and David Rispers, two members of A$AP Rocky’s entourage, were also found guilty.

“The assault has not been of such a serious nature that a prison sentence must be chosen,” read a statement from the court. “The defendants are therefore sentenced to conditional sentences.”

A$AP Rocky was released from custody after the trial ended. He was held in prison from July 3 to Aug. 2 and formally charged on July 25.

At his trial, A$AP Rocky testified that he acted in self defence and that he and the others tried to de-escalate the situation. But, the jury was shown video showing Jafari getting thrown to the ground and then punched and kicked.

Before his arrest, the rapper shared video clips on Instagram showing the two young men following them around. “SO A FEW DRUG ADDICTS ARE NOT MY FANS , WE DONT KNOW THESE GUYS AND WE DIDNT WANT TROUBLE , THEY FOLLOWED US FOR 4 BLOCKS , AND THEY WERE SLAPPING GIRLS BUTTS WHO PASSED , GIVE ME A BREAK.”

His bodyguard is heard saying: “He hit me with his headphones. He cut me on my head. I could really beat the s**t out of him.”

A$AP Rocky was in Sweden to perform at a music festival.

The rap star was arrested in 2012 for allegedly attacking two people who were taking pictures of him on a New York City street, according to TMZ. In 2013, he was accused of slapping a woman at a music festival in Philadelphia but the case was later dismissed.
