After nine weeks at No. 2, Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” has topped the Billboard Hot 100 – ending the record-setting 19-week run of “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X.
Eilish become the first artist born in the 2000s to be at No. 1 on the singles chart (Lil Nas X was born in 1999) and, at 17, is the youngest since Lorde topped the chart at 16 with “Royals.”
“Bad Guy” spent a record nine non-consecutive weeks at No. 2 before going to No. 1, beating the eight-week waits of The Weeknd’s “Starboy” in 2017 and Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” in 2016.
The song is from Eilish’s album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in April. In July, Eilish released a remix of “Bad Guy” featuring Bieber.
"Old Town Road" falls two spots on the Hot 100 but remains at the top of the Hot Rap Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts for a 20th week.
"Señorita" by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello returns to No. 2 after eight weeks on the chart. If it can topple "Bad Guy," it will become Mendes' first ever No. 1 single.
The chart, dated Aug. 24, is compiled by Billboard using U.S. data for streaming, radio airplay and digital sales.
On the Canadian Hot 100, "Old Town Road" remains at No. 1 followed by "Señorita" and "Bad Guy."
