Demi Lovato Sorry (Not Sorry) For Visiting Israel
Demi Lovato apologized Wednesday for visiting Israel – only hours after she gushed that there was “something absolutely magical” about it.
In an Instagram Story she later deleted, Lovato admitted she accepted a free trip to Israel in exchange for sharing “a few posts” about it with her 74.5 million Instagram followers.
“No one told me there would be anything wrong with going or that I could possibly be offending anyone,” she wrote. “With that being said, I’m sorry if I’ve hurt or offended anyone, that was not my intention.”
Lovato insisted her trip was meant to be a personal spiritual experience and not a political statement. “Now I realize it hurt people and for that I’m sorry. Sorry I’m not more educated.”
A number of music stars have come under fire for visiting Israel amid its conflict with Palestine.
Lovato turned off the comments on her posts about Israel after seeing the backlash.
“This trip has been so important for my well-being, my heart, and my soul,” she captioned one photo. “I’m grateful for the memories made and the opportunity to be able to fill the God-sized hole in my heart. Thank you for having me, Israel.”
