Kelly Clarkson Claims Her Life Is 'A Dumpster'
Kelly Clarkson recently came up with a word to describe her personal life.
“I mean, it’s no secret my life has been a little bit of a dumpster,” the 38-year-old singer said in an interview with Today. “Personally, it’s been a little hard.”
In June, Clarkson filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock, her husband of nearly seven years. She is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their daughter River, 5, and son Remington, 4.
“The last couple of months I’ve been talking to friends who have been through divorce,” Clarkson said. “I don’t know how people go through that without some kind of outlet because it is the worst thing ever, you know, for everyone involved.”
Clarkson is focusing on other things, like her role as a coach on The Voice (premiering Oct. 19) and hosting her eponymous daytime talk show (returning Sept. 21). Just don’t expect her to talk too much on the show about the end of her marriage to Blackstock, who is also her manager.
Clarkson recently told The Los Angeles Times: “I am a very open person, but I'm not going to be able to be truly open about this in certain aspects because there's kids involved … So because it's not just me, I probably won't go too deep with it.”
The singer is also working on her ninth studio album, which is set for release next year. Clarkson said it will be very honest.
“This will probably be the most personal one I’ve ever released,” she said. “The whole record is basically every emotion you experience from the beginning of a relationship to the end of what it is now – and it’s been very therapeutic for me.”
