Tory Lanez's Reps Accused Of Crafting Bogus Emails, Texts

Reps for Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, who allegedly shot Megan Thee Stallion in the foot on July 12, have been accused of launching a media campaign in his defence using fake emails and bogus text messages.

Citing a source, Billboard reported Tuesday that Lanez’s team allegedly “created fake text message conversations between Megan and Lanez, and sent them to various media outlets” and also sent emails purportedly from Megan’s label 300 Entertainment.

“A screenshot of an email, sent to Billboard from a different anonymous source, included a fake email account for 300's Head of Creative, Kevin Leong, that was allegedly created by Lanez's team,” read the report. “The email contained a link to a report that claimed that Megan did not want to testify against Lanez.”

In a statement, 300 Entertainment told the outlet that it was aware of the alleged “email impersonation” and is “working diligently on Megan’s behalf to get to the bottom of the matter.”

A rep for Lanez “strongly denies” Lanez was involved, according to Billboard, and said: “We are investigating who could be sending these false emails and intend to take action against them.”

Last week, Lanez broke his silence on the incident via a track titled “Money Over Fallouts,” in which he raps: “Megan people trying to frame me for a shooting / But them boys ain’t clean enough / I see how they teaming up, watching and I’m calculating / Gotta keep it quiet, I can’t jeopardize the outcome waiting.”

He also casts doubt on Megan’s injury. “How the f**k you get shot in your foot / don’t hit no bones or tendons?”

Initial reports said Megan suffered cuts to her foot from broken glass but, a few days later, she took to social media to say she “suffered gun shot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me." She did not name the alleged shooter.

Then, last month, Megan publicly pointed the finger at Lanez.

“Tory shot me,” she said during an Instagram Live. “You shot me and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs lying and s**t.”

Megan recalled she was in the SUV with a female friend, Lanez and his bodyguard. An argument broke out and Megan, who was in the front seat and only five minutes from home, decided to get out. She said Lanez, “from out the backseat of the car starts shooting me.”

Lanez was charged with possession of a concealed weapon but has not been charged with firing it.
