Shawn Mendes gifted his fans this week with a throwback photo on Instagram showing him splayed out on the grass wearing nothing but shorts. His arms are extended, his legs are bent at the knees and he is glancing up at the camera.
“One day on tour somewhere,” he captioned the pic, which earned 3.6 million "likes" from fans of all genders in its first day online.
The photo, of course, was snapped on the shore of the Detroit River – across from his native Canada – the day before his concert in Detroit last August.
Mendes, 21, has never been shy about flaunting his toned and typically shorn torso. Countless paparazzi shots have captured the singer’s bare chest as he goes about the business of living his life in the public eye.
The singer has also forsaken a shirt to pose in Calvin Klein underwear, to grace the cover of Flaunt magazine and to take a far-too-brief shower in the “Lost in Japan” video.
Roughly a minute and 50 seconds into the “Señorita” video, Mendes peels off his tank top to canoodle with Camila Cabello.
Mendes also regularly treats the world to shirtless snaps on social media, as he did so generously this week.
Here is a look at 10 times Mendes reminded all of us that he is so much more than a talented singer-songwriter; 10 times he invited us – nay, begged us – to objectify him; and 10 times he subconsciously suggested we stop eating our feelings and hit the gym.
