Some of the biggest names in pop music are in Las Vegas this weekend for the 2018 Billboard Music Awards.
The show will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on CTV on Sunday beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
Here are five reasons you should tune in:
KELLY CLARKSON
Who doesn’t love Kelly Clarkson? The singer and coach on The Voice is hosting the BBMAs and will no doubt show off her natural charm and sense of humour. Clarkson earned her hosting stripes when she MC’ed the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball North last year. Plus, she’s performing on the show.
CANADA, EH!
You can’t celebrate chart-toppers without Canadians. Drake has nine nominations, including Top Artist and Top Male Artist. (The Toronto rapper already has 14 BBMAs.) Justin Bieber has eight noms and is competing against fellow Canadian Shawn Mendes in the Top Social Artist category. The Weeknd has a pair of nominations in the R&B categories. Did we mention Mendes is performing “Youth” with Khalid on the show?
THE STAGE IS LIT
In addition to the aforementioned performances by Clarkson and Mendes, the list of performances at the BBMAs include Dua Lipa, Jennifer Lopez, John Legend, Ariana Grande, plus Macklemore with Kesha; Zedd with Maren Morris and Grey; Khalid with Normani Kordei; Christina Aguilera with Demi Lovato; Salt-N-Pepa with En Vogue; and Camila Cabello with Pharrell Williams (“Sangria Wine," anyone?). All that and the highly anticipated debut of a track from BTS.
STAR PRESENTERS
BBMAs presenters include stars from music, film and television. The long list includes Hailey Baldwin, Tyra Banks, Halsey, Nick Jonas, Julia Michaels, The Chainsmokers, T.I., Rebel Wilson and – fresh from the iHeartRadio Fan Fest in Toronto, French Montana.
JANET JACKSON
The 51-year-old pop superstar is being honoured with the Icon Award at the BBMAs – a tribute previously given to the likes of Céline Dion, Prince and Cher. Jackson will also demonstrate why she deserves the award by performing on the show.
