“Trollz,” the new single from 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj, suffered the biggest fall from No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the chart’s history.
The track, released on June 12, debuted at the top of the chart but tumbled to No. 34 in its second week.
According to Billboard, it beat The Weeknd’s record 16-spot fall from No. 1 (for “Heartless”) in 2019. (Billboard does not count Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which disappeared from the chart in January after three weeks at No. 1 during this past holiday season.)
“Trollz” was the first No. 1 hit for the controversial rapper, who marked the occasion by posting a celebratory video on Instagram.
“YOU CANT STOP ME,” he captioned the clip. “YOU CAN SAY WHAT EVER IM NUMBER 1 AND YOU CANT TAKE THAT FROM ME.”
Prior to the release of "Trollz," Minaj was slammed for working with 6ix9ine, who pleaded guilty in 2015 to using a child in a sexual performance and received three years probation. He had been facing three charges related to acts involving a 13-year-old girl.
Minaj and 6ix9ine previously collaborated on “Fefe” and “Mama” from 6ix9ine’s 2018 album Dummy Boy.
6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was granted an early release from prison in April due to the COVID-19 outbreak. He was serving a two-year sentence that ends July 31. Facing 47 years behind bars after being arrested in 2018 on firearms and racketeering charges, he agreed to plead guilty to nine charges and to testify against alleged Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods members Anthony Ellison and Aljermiah Mack.
