Aaron Carter went on a Twitter tirade late Tuesday after his brother, Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter had him served with a restraining order.
“So my brother just got a a restraining order against me,” Aaron tweeted. “Take care. @nickcarter we’re done for life.”
Aaron, 31, repeatedly insisted the two have been estranged for at least four years. “Restraining order says stay 100 feet away,” he wrote. “It’s been thousands of miles for years.”
Aaron accused Nick of repeatedly trying to get him put on a 5150 hold – the code in California law for an involuntary psychiatric commitment of people who suspected of being a danger to themselves or others.
He tweeted: “All I ask is for my family to leave me alone. This is blood. Not love. I will never be around you and I don’t want to be around you. I am the one who said I’m done then you send me this!? Ok. Stop trying to get me 5150’d before I file a harassment suit myself nick I have the $.”
Earlier in the evening, Nick tweeted a statement: “After careful consideration, my sister Angel and I regret that we were required to seek a restraining order against our brother Aaron today. In light of Aaron’s increasingly alarming behaviour and his recent confession that he harbours thoughts and intentions of killing my pregnant wife and unborn child, we were left with no choice but to take every measure possible to protect ourselves and our family. We love our brother and truly hope he gets the proper treatment he needs before any harm comes to himself or anyone else.”
Nick, 39, included the hashtags “#mentalhealth #GunControlNow #GunControl
Aaron fired back: “I am astounded at the accusations being made against me and I do not wish harm to anyone, especially my family” and “I never threatened anyone. I’m appalled by this and don’t ever wish to speak to them again.”
He also tweeted: “I’ll be just fine without them. They need to leave me alone. Michael Jackson told me this was gonna happen and he was right.”
In a 2017 interview, Aaron was asked if he and Nick could reconcile. He replied: “Who knows?
“I love him. But he can be a punk sometimes. But he’s my brother. I will always be in his corner. I will be right there taking the high road with Nick."
Aaron, twin sister Angel, and their siblings Nick and Bobbie Jean lost sister Leslie to a drug overdose in 2012 and their father Robert in 2017. Their mother Jane recently went on The Doctors with Aaron to talk about her alcohol addiction.
FROM 2017: Aaron Carter's Family Concerned For Singer
Aaron was a young boy when he had success with his self-titled debut album and follow-up Aaron’s Party (Come Get It). In recent years, he has been arrested for DUI, come out as bisexual and has come clean about his history of eating disorders, substance abuse and mental illness.
On episodes of The Doctors that aired last week, Aaron revealed that he has been diagnosed with multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia, acute anxiety and manic depression – and listed six medications he has been prescribed. He also admitted to years of “huffing.”
Despite his self-proclaimed mental health issues, Aaron was able to purchase guns. “Listen, I have every right to protect myself,” he tweeted, adding that he has never been convicted of felonies or put on a psychiatric hold. "I’m a safe person.”
On Monday, Aaron tweeted that he was canceling the remainder of his shows this year to focus on his health – but less than 24 hours later he claimed his comment was “misconstrued.”
He is scheduled to perform on Oct. 4 at Sniggily Wiggily's Beer N' Booze Concreatery in Halifax.
Never one to ignore trolls on social media, Aaron is now using Twitter to air his family conflict while simultaneously asking for privacy.
In his Twitter storm on Tuesday night, Aaron declared “I want to be sober full time” and vowed to get his life in order.
“I can’t let anyone take my life from me and what I’ve gone through is insane and I’m a survivor and I know that. It’s MY job to be ok. Just watch what I do with my life next,” he wrote.
“You cannot lead with revenge in your heart. I just need to get away from this. I don’t want anything to do with him and I’m working on me. I love you guys thank you for your support and nick please stay away from me, and angel. I will be ok. I will get my life back. Xoxo”
