Adele is going to showcase her comedic chops on this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live.
“Bloooooody hellllll I’m so excited about this!! And also absolutely terrified!,” the 32-year-old singer confessed in an Instagram post.
It will be Adele’s hosting debut and her first time on SNL since appearing as musical guest on Nov. 21, 2015.
“I’ve always wanted to do it as a stand alone moment, so that I could roll up my sleeves and fully throw myself into it, but the time has never been right,” Adele wrote. “But if there was ever a time for any of us to jump head first into the deep end with our eyes closed and hope for the best it’s 2020 right?”
Adele said her SNL debut as musical guest on Oct. 18, 2008 “went on to break my career in America, so it feels full circle and I just couldn’t possibly say no.”
Adele gushed about H.E.R. making her SNL debut as musical guest. "I love her SO much I can’t wait to melt into a flaming hot mess when she performs, then confuse myself while I laugh my arse off in between it all.”
Of course, Adele could be using her SNL appearance to hype her highly anticipated new album – her first since 2015’s 25.
Last February, Adele promised the album would drop in September but, in June, her manager Jonathan Dickins said it was pushed back due to COVID-19. “It isn’t coming in September,” he told Music Week. “It’ll be ready when it’s ready … I can’t put a date on that yet. We have music, but we’re still working.”
In August, Adele admitted on Instagram that she has “honestly no idea” when her album will be released.
