Billie Eilish gave her first performance of her new single on Wednesday night during the virtual Democratic National Convention.
Before singing “my future,” the 18-year-old delivered a powerful message about the importance of voting in the upcoming U.S. election.
“You don’t need me to tell you things are a mess. Donald Trump is destroying our country and everything we care about,” said Eilish. "We need leaders who will solve problems like climate change and COVID, not deny them. Leaders who will fight against systemic racism and equality.
"It starts with voting against Donald Trump and for Joe Biden. Silence is not an option and we cannot sit this one out. We all have to vote like our lives and the world depend on it – because they do.”

Eilish's message and her performance – which featured brother FINNEAS, of course – earned raves from some of her fellow artists. Canadian singer Deborah Cox. "My Future. By Billie Eilish. Dope song. Wow," she tweeted from her Miami home.
Rock icon Stevie Van Zandt tweeted: "She chooses to disguise it half the time but Billie can sing her ass off which she did tonight. Phenomenal performance. Traditionally young people don’t vote. Let’s hope with her encouragement this year will be different."
Eilish released “my future” at the end of July. It is her first new track since February's "No TIme To Die," the theme to the since-delayed new Bond film of the same name.
