And just like that it sounds like we won't be getting the movie adaptation of Britney Spears's memoir, The Woman In Me, any time soon.
Following last week's news hinting that Emma Roberts could play Spears in the reported biopic, Spears herself has come out and clarified that the project she is working on is not the biopic we all want.
“The project I might be doing isn’t a biopic story … it’s a fictional musical where I play an extremely intelligent character !!!,” Spears posted on Instagram, in addition to an illustration of a woman with two cats.
However, she did seem to confirm a collaboration with director Jon M. Chu is possibly happening, adding, “It’s flattering to be in such good company like Jon Chu !!!”
Early last month Spears cryptically posted about a project with Chu and producer Marc Platt, saying she was "excited to share with my fans that I've been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He’s always made my favorite movies … stay tuned 🌹🎥"
Universal Pictures has reportedly secured the film rights to The Woman In Me, so maybe we'll be getting two Britney-related films at some point?
