Cardi B is seeking a divorce from Offset.
The 27-year-old rap superstar, whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar, filed documents Monday in Fulton County, Georgia. She is seeking primary physical custody and legal custody of their daughter Kulture, who was born in July 2018.
A divorce hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 4.
In March 2018, Cardi defended her decision to stand by her man after revelations that Offset (aka Kiari Cepheus) cheated while they were engaged. "I want to work out my s**t with my man, and I don’t got to explain why," she said.
Cardi confirmed in June 2018 that she had secretly wed Offset in Georgia nine months earlier.
Then, in December 2018, the "Bodak Yellow" rapper said she had split from her husband. “I’ve been trying to work things out with my baby’s father for a hot minute now,” she explained on Instagram. “We’re really good friends and we’re really good business partners … we’ve got a lot of love for each other but things just having been working out between us for a long time. And it’s nobody’s fault, I guess we just grew out of love, but we’re not together anymore.”
Cardi added: “It might take time to get a divorce.”
Offset later crashed Cardi’s set at a California music festival with a sign made of flowers that spelled out “Take Me Back.” He told his wife: “I just want to tell you I’m sorry. I love you. Whatever I’ve got to do to show you.”
In February 2019, Offset said he and Cardi B were working on their marriage and he didn’t regret going to extraordinary lengths to get her back. “You gotta fight for what you believe in and what you love,” the rapper told Billboard.
Appearing on a radio show, Offset said: “You gotta go through steps and different things so we can grow.” Asked if he and Cardi were in marriage counselling, he replied: “Working through it … We’re young, man.”
It was the first marriage for both Cardi and 28-year-old Offset, who is a member of Migos. He has three children from previous relationships.
