Duran Duran bassist John Taylor went public Sunday with his COVID-19 diagnosis.
Although he described it as a “Turbo-charged Flu,” the 59-year-old musician seemed to downplay the potential severity of the virus.
Taylor said he tested positive almost three weeks ago and has since recovered.
“I came out of it feeling okay – although I must admit I didn’t mind the quarantine as it gave me the chance to really recover,” he wrote.
Taylor added: “I am speaking out in answer to the enormous amount of fear being generated by the pandemic, some of it entirely justified, and my heart goes out to everyone who has had to deal with real loss and pain.
“But I want to let you know that it isn’t always a killer, and we can and will beat this thing.”
Taylor did not say how he contracted the virus.
In recent days, the music world has lost Adam Schlesinger, Alan Merrill and Joe Diffie to complications from COVID-19. Singers Christopher Cross, Sara Bareilles and P!nk said they tested positive and Marianne Faithfull, John Prine and Canadian singer-actor Nick Cordero were hospitalized.
